“It’s something we looked at, for sure, as part of looking at cross-progression, but the cross-progression was the clearest indication of what we should be doing,” said Fergusson. Speaking in an interview with Eurogamer, Rod Fergusson – formerly of The Coalition and now the head of the Diablo franchise at Blizzard – said that though the game won’t have cross-play at launch, it was indeed something the developers looked at during development, and will continue to look at following release as well. Though Diablo 2: Resurrected will have cross-progression across the many platforms it is releasing for, it won’t support cross-play- at launch, at least. Of course, given the fact that multiplayer is a big part of the Diablo experience, questions about cross-play are being asked often. True to recent leaks, Blizzard unveiled and announced Diablo 2: Resurrectedat BlizzConline this weekend.
